  • Overview

    The Vendor Compliance Manager is responsible for providing expertise and direction in managing compliance oversight activities pertaining to GM Financial vendors. This responsibility includes the ability to drive assessment activities pertaining to company, state and federal regulatory requirements and compliance-based initiatives. This manager will have contact and interaction with all levels of management and departments across the organization in addition to external parties such as vendors, state and/or federal examiners. The manager must utilize their knowledge and experience to assist in the development of team members.



    • Manage compliance risk assessment reviews of GM Financial vendors with respect to consumer federal regulations and state laws
    • Manage vendor complaint review process
    • Identify and address areas of vendor non-compliance that could potentially impact business results, financial reporting and expose GM Financial to additional compliance and regulatory risk
    • Oversee collaboration with internal business stakeholders to establish and schedule vendor assessments
    • Manage remediation process, offer recommendations for improvement as well as work with analysts and business units to address and escalate issues, as appropriate
    • Analyze risks associated with vendor use on current and future projects and communicate the compliance impacts to compliance leadership and the business units
    • Perform vendor assessments with a consistent level of quality and accuracy
    • Provide timely and accurate assessment results with the ability to articulate areas of non-compliance
    • Draft, review and provide feedback on internal business documents
    • Document vendor compliance standards and disseminate to appropriate internal business stakeholders
    • Prepare appropriate confidential communications and ensure the integrity of information provided
    • Assist in the development, implementation and training of departmental processes and procedures
    • Manage adherence to documented policies, procedures and processes for the department
    • Foster open communication and information sharing within the department to ensure all team members are knowledgeable of regulatory compliance areas, department standards, responsibilities, goals and initiatives
    • Assist in the development and training of team members



    • Thorough understanding of GM Financial policies and procedures
    • Advanced knowledge and understanding of audit/assessment processes
    • Working knowledge and understanding of business unit operations
    • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing finance, lending and related industries
    • Understanding of the state and federal examination procedures


    • Ability to use appropriate judgment, analysis, and logic when solving problems and providing recommendations
    • Ability to plan, execute and improve work processes to ensure achievement of business and compliance objectives
    • Ability to provide leadership through influence, inspiration, collaboration and teamwork
    • Ability to work independently/strong self-management skills

    • Proficient in basic computer functions and Microsoft applications

    • Excellent listening skills


    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred or equivalent work experience required


    • 5-7 years Compliance, Risk or Internal Auditing or demonstrated experience in auto finance, lending required

    Work Conditions

    • Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs Travel is required and may be as much as two weeks during a month
