Overview

The Business Systems Analyst I is responsible for assisting in the gathering of business requirements from end user(s) (non-management and management) for low risk projects impacting a limited number of business units and to assist in the documentation of findings using simple work flows, spreadsheets, or in a business requirements template. The Business Systems Analyst I also assists in the communication activities between the business unit(s) and the various IT departments located in the Arlington office for all projects, maintenance items and investigations. The documents produced are shared amongst the various IT teams involved between Toronto and Arlington; QA, development, technical architects, PMs and change management to help deliver a business solution.

Responsibilities

Job Duties

 

Project/Assignments (75%)

  • Assist in the gathering of business requirements via workshops, interviews and/or brainstorming sessions.
  • Assist in the preparation of “as-is” state to promote and drive a “to-be” solutions ensuring efficiency.
  • Support in documenting findings in the form of as-is/current state workflows, spreadsheets, and/or in a business requirements document.
  • Adhere to GM Financial PMO processes and “best practices”.
  • Miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned/required

Administration (10%)

  • Read and Acknowledge company policies and assigned training modules.
  • Other administrative tasks as needed including timesheet submissions.

Application Support (10%)

  • Help provide application support on an as needed basis.
  • Document issues and share /communicate the information with the business units involved in the resolution processes.
  • When called upon, help to ensure Applications Support is informed of functionality changes

Audit Compliance (5%)

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, security configuration standards, compan y policies and responsibilities pertaining to the management and security of customer and confidential business information.

Reports to: Team Leader of Business Systems

Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary school diploma required
  • Minimum 1 year in a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst role
  • Business Analyst certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of community college preferred

 

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years working experience in a Business Systems Analyst/Business Analyst

   role.

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Financial and/or Leasing exposure is an asset.

• Basic understanding of best practices related to software development life cycle.

 

Knowledge/Skills

·         Basic knowledge of Word, Visio, Outlook, and Excel

   Basic analytical skills to assist with problem solving.

   Strong listening, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

   Highly motivated and dependable.
